Power your gadgets with a new USB stick
Sunday, April 11, 2010
Millions of traveling gadget lovers tote around wall chargers, adaptors and converters to ensure their favorite electronics -- such as mobile phones and MP3 players -- are powered up and ready for action.
The Powerstick V2 by Ecosol looks to be an easier and smaller alternative. This tiny USB-based device charges up using a computer's power and includes nine different adaptors to power many popular portable devices, including smartphones, iPods, digital cameras and Bluetooth headsets. The company claims that this small doohickey can double talk time or audio playback.
About the size of a small pack of gum, this device takes up to 90 minutes to power up its internal Lithium polymer battery (to 90 percent) from a laptop, airplane seat or compatible car stereo, while a small LCD “Fuel Gauge” on the screen displays its charging progress. Connected devices can be used while the Powerstick is charging.

I am a syndicated technology journalist and author. I've spent the last 12 years waist-deep in gadgets, gizmos, gear and games. I'm very much living the "digital lifestyle," whether I'm flashing barcodes on my BlackBerry to board a plane, backing up my laptop's data onto a USB memory watch (Ok, so I know it's geeky) or jamming with my three kids in Rock Band. Like you, I love this stuff. So come back every Monday and Wednesday for new entries.
