High-quality speakers for your cell phoneSunday, December 20, 2009Now that your mobile phone is likely to also be your portable music player, it’s time to pick up a speaker system to get the most out of your tunes. We test-drove the Altec Lansing inMotion iM4 speakers -- a teeny portable solution at just 10.25 inches wide by 5.3 inches deep and an inch high (and weighing just 28 ounces) -- and found that they provided a clean, full sound out of the four neodymium 25mm Micro Drivers and MaxxBass technology for impressive bass without a subwoofer. The retractable cable makes it a breeze to plug into any standard 3.5mm audio jack from a phone or MP3 player (a 2.5mm adapter is also included for other models). We tried it with a BlackBerry Curve and Apple iPhone. Other features of this foldable speaker solution include dual inputs to connect two phones or MP3 players at once, optional AA battery power with 18-hour playback, and a rubberized base to ensure your phone or player won’t slip ‘n slide. About This BlogWelcome to The Geek Weekly's blog, which is designed to deliver the latest in tech-related news, rumors, reviews and how-tos for your personal and business needs. You can also expect plenty of opinions, rants and tips. I am a syndicated technology journalist and author. I've spent the last 12 years waist-deep in gadgets, gizmos, gear and games. I'm very much living the "digital lifestyle," whether I'm flashing barcodes on my BlackBerry to board a plane, backing up my laptop's data onto a USB memory watch (Ok, so I know it's geeky) or jamming with my three kids in Rock Band. Like you, I love this stuff. So come back every Monday and Wednesday for new entries. --Marc Saltzman |
