Apple releases the world's smallest MP3 player

Monday, March 16, 2009

Time to ditch your iPod, as it's so, well, 2008. Apple has introduced an all-new iPod shuffle ($79), billed as the world's smallest music player at nearly half of the size of its predecessor.

Not only is the just-announced iPod shuffle about 50 percent smaller than the previous model -- significantly smaller than a AA battery -- but this portable MP3 player is also the first that talks to you, according to Apple.

The VoiceOver feature enables the third-generation iPod shuffle to speak your song titles, artists, and playlist names aloud in your ear buds. This can be handy as there is no LCD screen to see this information. The iPod shuffle speaks 14 languages: English, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, and Turkish.
