YouTube video downloader works like a charmMonday, November 23, 2009Ever find a video on YouTube and wish you could save it to view offline, email it to a friend, burn it to a DVD or transfer it to a smartphone? This free tool lets you do just that. BienneSoft's YouTube Downloader saves any of the millions of online YouTube videos to your hard drive, to do with it what you will. It’s a breeze to use: First, download and extract the small 3.39 MB file. Then cut and paste in the URL to a favorite YouTube video (such as my current fave, Travis Barker's killer drumming session to Flo Rida’s “Low”). Select where on your hard drive to download the .FLV video file, and the program does the rest. The second step is just as easy. Select what kind of video file to convert it to for easy viewing. Choices include .MP4 for an iPhone, H.264 for a PSP or XVid AVI for a DVD, to name a few. Within seconds you'll see the file on your hard drive, ready for sharing, burning or copying. About This BlogWelcome to The Geek Weekly's blog, which is designed to deliver the latest in tech-related news, rumors, reviews and how-tos for your personal and business needs. You can also expect plenty of opinions, rants and tips. I am a syndicated technology journalist and author. I've spent the last 12 years waist-deep in gadgets, gizmos, gear and games. I'm very much living the "digital lifestyle," whether I'm flashing barcodes on my BlackBerry to board a plane, backing up my laptop's data onto a USB memory watch (Ok, so I know it's geeky) or jamming with my three kids in Rock Band. Like you, I love this stuff. So come back every Monday and Wednesday for new entries. --Marc Saltzman |
