It's megapixel madness with 8.1-megapixel phoneSunday, February 07, 2010Many people have ditched their point-and-shoot digital camera for a camera phone. Those who pick up the upcoming Sony Ericsson C905 won’t have to trade quality for convenience. Due out by early 2009, the United States’ first 8.1-megapixel camera phone packs all the features you’d expect from a stand-alone digital camera, including Xenon flash, auto focus, image stabilizer, and face detection. Plus, after you take a photo or shoot a video, you can immediately upload it to your favorite blog or social networking site, using GSM/GPRS, EDGE, or 3G (HSDPA) cell phone networks. The C905 is also no slouch in other departments. It houses built-in GPS, FM radio, stereo Bluetooth, and more. Oh, and did we mention it makes phone calls, too? No price, carrier, or exact launch date have been confirmed just yet. About This BlogWelcome to The Geek Weekly's blog, which is designed to deliver the latest in tech-related news, rumors, reviews and how-tos for your personal and business needs. You can also expect plenty of opinions, rants and tips. I am a syndicated technology journalist and author. I've spent the last 12 years waist-deep in gadgets, gizmos, gear and games. I'm very much living the "digital lifestyle," whether I'm flashing barcodes on my BlackBerry to board a plane, backing up my laptop's data onto a USB memory watch (Ok, so I know it's geeky) or jamming with my three kids in Rock Band. Like you, I love this stuff. So come back every Monday and Wednesday for new entries. --Marc Saltzman |
