Digital cameras top "Most Baffling Gadgets" list

Sunday, January 10, 2010

Independent British research site Reevoo found that technology is getting way too complicated for many people.

This is especially true for digital cameras. About 25 percent of the 2,000 people surveyed online say they cannot work their digital cameras. And 21 percent are very confused by their GPS navigation systems.

Overall, this recent study found about 20 percent of Brits felt “left behind” by technological advancements. And it's causing a lot of frustration: Roughly 32 percent admitted to throwing a gadget against the wall at some point!

“It’s great that manufacturers provide different functions and features as standard on today’s electrical products, but what this research shows is that lots of people actually just want ease of use, rather than the added extras that many of us find too complicated,” says Reevoo spokesman Chris Winstanley in a company release.

Perhaps the gadget manufacturers aren’t the only ones to blame: The poll also revealed that 38 percent of respondents threw out the instruction manual before reading it. Of course, we geeks always read the manual and never find our gadgets baffling.

Here are the top 10 most baffling gadgets, according to the Reevoo survey:

  1. Digital camera
  2. GPS
  3. Mobile phone
  4. Washing machine
  5. Camcorder
  6. DVD player
  7. Games console
  8. TV remote control
  9. MP3 player
  10. Microwave
