Small speakers are big on sound

Sunday, March 01, 2009

The fine folks at Creative were eager for us to try out their new GigaWorks T3s, so we checked out the speakers online and shrugged our shoulders at the modest-looking pair. Well, “don’t judge a book by its cover,” I thought to myself and agreed to give them a spin. Glad I did.

Creative’s GigaWorks T3s (available at us.creative online) are a premium 2.1 speaker system with 2-inch cube-shaped satellites on small stands for each side of your monitor and a booming subwoofer (that sits under your desk) using three independent drivers to deliver deep, refined bass out of the top and sides.

Man, these suckers are loud with total power topping 120 watts -- but more important, they are clean-sounding and well-balanced.

A black, wired remote sits on the desk and lets you adjust volume by turning a knob, connect an MP3 player (cable included), or hook up a pair of headphones, if desired.
